About CBA Captain (P)

At Chickpea Breeding Australia, we aim to expand the geographic reach of chickpea crops throughout Australia.  The $30 million investment by NSW DPI and GRDC is dedicated to creating Desi and Kabuli chickpea varieties that perform well in new growing regions and established areas. Our new variety, CBA Captain, achieves this goal. 

CBA Captain is an erect Desi chickpea variety, which was released in 2020. It has good plant height, good height to lowest pod and good lodging resistance resulting in exceptional harvestability. It has broad adaption to chickpea growing regions across the country. CBA Captain has a yellow- brown seed coat and angular seed shape.
