End Point Royalties

The plant breeding industry considers EPRs to be the most equitable means of ensuring continued investment. It encourages innovation to deliver continually improved varieties that meet the needs of Australian grain growers, today and into the future. With the EPR system the risk is shared between the grower and the variety breeder. For instance, if the grower has a failed crop, the breeder receives no royalty.

Growers must pay a royalty on every tonne of harvested grain they sell. For example, CBA Captain EPR is $4.95 per tonne (incl. GST). EPR is applicable on grain sold as stockfeed. Seed saved by the grower for future planting purposes on their farm is exempt from EPR.

Accurate Records on the Tonnage of EPR Grain

By keeping accurate records, every time an Australian farmer pays the EPR, they are contributing to the current and future success of our sector.

Accredited Grain Marketers can auto deduct EPR from your payments and pay the breeder's agent, or the breeders agent can invoice you directly.

Some benefits of EPR include:

  • Shared risk
  • Encourages innovation to continually deliver improved varieties
  • No up-front seed royalties for growers
  • Increased return on investment for breeding companies & growers with high-yielding varieties
